Meet Charlie Dimmock

Find out all about Charlie Dimmock, the feminine voice in the Ground Force team.

Once of Britain’s best known and best loved gardeners, Charlie Dimmock is renowned as much for her unusual water features as she is for her trendy looks. She first came to the nation’s attention on BBC1’s incredibly successful Ground Force – the producer/director of the show had met her five years previously when Charlie built a pond for the Meridian TV series, Grass Roots. Ground Force is now in its ninth series and Charlie has helped to transform countless gardens, including those of famous people such as Nelson Mandela, who told Charlie that she looked like a Spice Girl!
Charlie has gone on to present two BBC series of her own, Charlie’s Garden Army and Charlie’s Wildlife Gardens.

Charlie trained for four years as an amenity horticulturalist in Winchester and Somerset – and she was a bit of a swot, receiving a distinction for both her BTEC Diploma in Amenity Horticulture and National Technical Certificate in Turfculture and Sporting Management. A year of her training was spent at the Chelsea Physic Garden.

Charlie is a regular contrubutor to the Mail on Sunday and has her own CD-Rom, Charlie Dimmock’s Water Garden Designer. She has also published her own book, Enjoy Your Garden and the BBC titles Ground Force Container Gardens and Ground Force Water Garden Workbook plus a 400-page magazine At Home With Charlie.
